SING OUT LOUD. LAUGH OUT LOUD. LOVE OUT LOUD.

Hi, I’m Shelley Tantau

✨ Nurse Practitioner ✨ Sister ✨ Daughter ✨ Auntie ✨ Dog Mom ✨  Gardener ✨  Designer ✨  Dreamer ✨  Healer ✨

I knew from an early age that my calling as a nurse was to be present for those in their most vulnerable state, and to help them on their journey towards healing, whatever that journey might look like.

This is why I am here.

I am passionate about helping you heal and move past whatever is holding you back.

To do this, I have complemented my nursing experience with focused training in Trauma Informed Coaching, Intuitive Eating, Clarity Coaching, and Grief Coaching.

I am equipped and ready to help you find your path forward as you reach toward a passionate, powerful, bright future.

Yes, A vibrant life can be YOURS

Before you choose me as your coach, it may be helpful to learn that I’m a real person with real problems and real experience addressing challenges. I’m not perfect, nor will I pretend to be. However, I have a vast array of education, experience, and know-how that, when combined, brings a powerful arsenal of support to whatever trauma, challenges, or life experiences have you stuck where you are right now.

The coaching and support I provide my clients encompass many areas: Clarity Coaching, Grief & Trauma, Career Coaching, and Body Image are just a few of them.

In recent years, I’ve been on the front lines, watching as the global pandemic changed life—and changed people—irrevocably. It’s no wonder our world is facing a serious mental health crisis. We are tired, burned out, and attempting to find our way back to normal, or at least to a “new normal.” But nothing is really working.

Maybe you feel stuck. Life you’re stagnating, living a life you don’t recognize.

I would be honored to walk alongside you. Even if you feel stuck, I can guarantee you CAN LIVE a life that fulfills you.

Who am I?

I’ll admit, it’s not easy being vulnerable, but I feel it’s important you hear my personal story to know I truly understand where you’re coming from.

*Trigger Warning – Talk of sexual assault, gun violence and murder.

I am a large-bodied female who, for most of my life, has been called fat, overweight, and plus sized. I’ve experienced considerable trauma from name calling to shaming, from food restriction to food criticism. In fact, it wasn’t until recently that I realized that the shame I held for my body size was in fact trauma.

As I worked through the issues stemming from my weight, I spoke up for the first time about being sexually assaulted as a freshman in high school by a group of boys. For too many years I thought this unwanted encounter was my fault. As I dug deeper into understanding my past, I was finally able to see how this incident impacted how I navigate relationships, who I trust, and who I don’t.

Working as a nurse, I’m not unaccustomed to encountering grief through the families I care for. However, when a dear friend was stolen from me by gun violence, a fellow healthcare provider whose life was cut short by a previous patient, grief took on a new depth.

It was in these moments, as I was able to identify the trauma I’ve experienced, and as I’ve given that trauma a name, that several things feel into place for me. I finally understood why conversations around dieting, weight loss, body image, and fat phobia all triggered something inside of me.

I’ve experienced first-hand how acknowledging, and responding, to deep trauma and grief can affect a person’s entire life – for better or for worse.

This new insight enabled me to be aware of those triggers, preempt them, and begin the process of healing from this life-long shame. The recovery process is fucking hard. There’s no gentle way to say it. But I’ve found that HEALING IS POSSIBLE, and habits, fears, and a lifetime of feelings, CAN be influenced and changed for the better.

What’s your story?

When you’re ready to take that next step in your journey, schedule a call, or send me an email.

I’m Mad About:

dogs, rescue, equity, music, freedom, mustangs (the horses, but I wouldn’t turn you away if you showed up in a vintage mustang car), humor, 25 cent words, books.

Wondering if I’m legit? Here are my fancy credentials.

I’m here to support you with over 18 years of clinical experience in the medical profession.

In addition to my traditional medical education and experience, I am trained in Trauma Informed Coaching, Intuitive Eating, Clarity, Intimacy and Grief Coaching. Shelley’s Rules on Life

✨ Don’t trust people that tell you, “trust me.”

✨ Believe what people show you, not tell you.

✨ You are bigger than your mistakes.

✨ Tip generously.

✨ Hold on loosely.

✨ Everyone—every single person—has something to offer and to teach.

✨ Never neglect the things that give you peace. They must be cultivated.

✨ Sing out loud, laugh out loud, love out loud—these things must be cultivated.

✨ Use colorful language. Swear unapologetically and sprinkle in fancy words when you speak.

✨ Be owned by a doc, or two … or as many as you need.

✨ Let go of the “shoulds.”

✨ Be guided by passion and interest, not by fear.

✨ Celebrate victories, all of them.

✨ Fall down seven times, stand up eight.

✨ Let people in.

✨ Hold your judgement—What you are judging others for is likely what you consider your own shortcoming.

✨ Stay open minded.

✨ Find a way to travel. See how others live.

✨ Eat the cake. Buy the shoes. Tell people you love them. Life is short—don’t put things off.

✨ There is very little that white paint does not improve.
